Mr. Glenn B. O'Neal, 72, of Winterville, died in Pennsylvania during treatment for lymphoma.
A spring memorial gathering is planned in North Carolina.
Mr. O'Neal was born in Swan Quarter and later moved to Washington as a teenager after graduating from Swan Quarter High School. He attended East Carolina Teaching College in Greenville and then enlisted in the Air Force where he attended flight school and later served in the Korean War. He returned to teach flight school for the Air Force Reserves at the Willow Grove Naval Air Station in Pennsylvania and then joined American Airlines. He raised his family in Pennsylvania before retiring to North Carolina.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Schade of Haverford, Pa. and Diana Drusedum of Doylestown, Pa.; one sister, Gretchen Cochran of Greenville; one brother, Grady O'Neal of Oriental and five grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
