Mr. Fred Malison Cox, 86, of the 3200 block of Arlington Place, Portsmouth, Va., died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel of Snellings Funeral Home, Portsmouth, Va. with pastor Scott M. Rimer officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Mr. Cox was born in Washington. He was a Marine veteran of World War II. He was married to Lila M. Cox, who survives. He belonged to the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 898 for 41 years. He retired from Steins Men's Clothing Store. He was a member of West End United Methodist Church and the Dean Cornelius Sunday school class.
Survivors include three daughters, Peggy Ann Smith of Greenville, Patricia Bright of Portsmouth, Va. and Donna Goldman of Chesapeake, Va.; one brother, Josh T. Cox of Washington; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by eight siblings.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Snellings Funeral Home, Portsmouth, Va.
