Mrs. Hilda Virginia Bryan Smithwick, age 74, a resident of 7670 Core Point Road, Blounts Creek, went to be with our Lord Wednesday evening, March 26, 2003, at her home.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2003, at the Core Point Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, Core Point Road, Blounts Creek, with the Rev. Timothy Webber and the Rev. Graham Lane officiating. Burial will follow in the Core Point Cemetery.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Gary Martin, Travis Martin, Michael Paul, Bryan Smithwick Jr., Bobby Pipkin and Danny Mixon.
Mrs. Smithwick was born in Pitt County, June 4, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Benjamin Bryan and Katie Pipkin Bryan. Mrs. Smithwick was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Core Point Free Will Baptist Church.
Mrs. Smithwick was married to Bickett Smithwick, who preceded her in death, Oct. 18, 1998.
Survivors included two sons, Sonny Smithwick and Ricky Smithwick, both of Core Point; a daughter, Sherry Maloney of New Bern; a sister, Margie Strong-Faulkner of Lake Tahoe, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today, March 28, 2003, at Paul Funeral Home, Washington, and at other times at the home, 7670 Core Point Road, Blounts Creek.
