Mrs. Mary Daniels Way, 70, of 313 N. Haines Circle, Williamston, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, Williamston, with the Rev. Dr. Russell Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Williamston.
Mrs. Way was born in Martin County on June 4, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Alonza Cleophus Daniels and Gussie Spruill Daniels. She was married to James E. Way, who preceded her in death. She retired from the Martin County Schools as a teacher’s assistant. She was president of E.J. Hayes Alumni Association Inc. of Williamston and a member of the Martin County Teachers Assistant Association. She was a member of Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, Williamston, where she was secretary of the deaconess board, president of missions and superintendent of the Sunday school.
Survivors include one daughter, Christa Way Monroe of Winterville; three grandchildren; one sister, Lorraine D. Jones of Attoboro, Mass.; two brothers, Earlon K. Daniels of Williamston, and William B. James of Brooklyn, N.Y.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Alonza C. Daniels III.
The family will receive friends today from 6-7 p.m. at Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, 713 Warren St., Williamston.
