Catherine Singleton Hodges, age 76, a resident of 653 Griffin-Hodges Road, Washington, died Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at Britthaven of Washington.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, January 12, 2007 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Washington, conducted by Eddie Bowen. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Billy Moore, Joseph Lilley, Greg Singleton, Redden Woolard, James Earl Woolard, Billy Ray Woolard, Churchill Hodges and Jimmy Hodges.
Mrs. Hodges was born in Beaufort County on January 10, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Sam Harvey “Jake” Singleton and Burlie Woolard Singleton. Mrs. Hodges was a homemaker. She was a member of the Old Ford Church of Christ.
On January 10, 1955, she married Benjamin Leslie Hodges, who preceded her in death, July 31, 1996.
Survivors include her three sons, Bobby Hodges and his wife, Betsy, Les Hodges, F. Mac Hodges and his wife, Meta all of Washington; two sisters, Libby Moore of Washington and Laura Lilley and her husband, Sonny of Farm Life community near Williamston; and her canine companion, Lucky.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Hodges was preceded in death by a brother, Sam Harvey Singleton, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Paul Funeral Home, Washington and other times at the home of her son, Mac Hodges, 627 Griffin-Hodges Road, Washington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Saturday Night Jamboree, c/o Marlene Sprouse, 410 Northwood Road, Smallwood, Washington, N.C. 27889 or the Beaufort County Developmental Center, 1534 W. 5th Street, Washington, N.C. 27889.
The family of Mrs. Hodges would like to thank the Staff of Britthaven, especially the 100 Hall, for their love and concern shown “our mama.”
