Mr. Roger Hopkins, 92, of 828 Yeatesville Road, Bath, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, at Beaufort County Hospital, Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church, Yeatesville community, with the Rev. Sterling Tripp officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hopkins was born in Beaufort County on June 12, 1914. He was the son of the late Orlander and Mattie Satterthwaite Hopkins. He attended the Beaufort County Schools. He was a World War II veteran. He was married to Mary Rodman Hopkins, who preceded him in death in January 1997. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church, Yeatesville community, where he served as a trustee.
Survivors include two daughters, Maxine Jones of Calverton, N.Y., and Gloria Hopkins of Bath; four sons, Willie Cutler of Portsmouth, Va., Ernest Cutler of Riverhead, N.Y., Charles Moore of Pinetown, and Charlie Hopkins of Bath; two brothers, Moses Hopkins and Charlie Hopkins, both of Bath; 28 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Katherine Peele Carter; two sons, Joseph Hopkins and Theodore Hopkins; three sisters, Classic Hopkins, Lottie Mae Carter and Marion Corprew and two brothers, Mack Hopkins and Thurman Hopkins.
The family will receive friends at the home.
