Mr. Thomas Allen Hood, 88, of Morehead City, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mr. Hood was born in Wayne County on Nov. 7, 1918. He was the son of the late Harvey and Eunice Edgerton Hood. He served in the Air Force as a navigator during World War II. He was married to Janet Credle Hood, who survives. He was a retired educator, having served as teacher and principal in Swan Quarter, among other places.
Survivors include one son, Thomas “Tom” Hood Jr. of Charlotte; three daughters, Betty Hood of Angier, Barbara H. Rawls of Morehead City, and Roberta Hood of Asheboro; five brothers, Harvey Hood of Fayetteville, Floyd Hood of Roseboro, J.B. Hood of Florence, S.C., James Hood of Louisville, Ky., and Roy Lee Hood of Canada; four sisters, Edna Earl H. Simmons of Lexington, Eunice H. Carter of Turkey, Annette H. Robinson of Rose Hill, and Thelma H. Williams of Roseboro; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Rawls.
