CLAYTON — Dr. Stephen Jasper Harding Jr., ‘YDH,’ died January 24, after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Washington, North Carolina on September 8, 1930, son of the late Jasper and Elizabeth Harding. He was a graduate of Washington High School. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War after attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He graduated from Logan Chiropractic College in St. Louis, Mo. in 1958 and enjoyed his private practice in Clayton, North Carolina for 43 years.
He is survived by his sister, Bettie Mac Wilson and her family, Don Wilson, Sr., Don Wilson, Jr., Jane, Jon, Anna, also Ann Dove and Andrew Page. In keeping with his wishes for simplicity, there was no formal visitation. A graveside service was held at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, NC on Monday, January 29 at 1 p.m. Dr. Harding requested all memorials be sent to the National Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice.
