Mr. Ira Holloway Jr., 96, of 7482 Sladesville-Credle Road, Scranton, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, at home.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Scranton, with Elder James Stanley officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Mr. Holloway was born Nov. 29, 1910 in Hyde County. He was the son of the late Ira Holloway Sr. and Heggar Moore Holloway. He attended the Hyde County Training School in Sladesville. He was employed in the forestry and lumber industries. He was a lifelong member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church.
He was married to Lizzie Silverthorne Holloway, who survives. He is also survived by one daughter, Marjorie Holloway Wiggins of Baltimore, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ina Holloway Carlton.
The family will receive friends at the home.
