Mr. William Lawerance Tarkington, 74, of the 1000 block of Pea Ridge Road, Pea Ridge, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, in Plumblee Nursing Home, Plymouth.
A celebration of Mr. Tarkington’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Edgar Masencup officiating. Burial will follow in the Tarkington family cemetery.
Mr. Tarkington was the son of the late Mary Dunbar and Jimmy Warren Tarkington. He was married to Priscilla Faye Copeland Tarkington, who preceded him in death. He was a member of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Steve Lawerance Tarkington, Nathan Richard Tarkington and Joseph Warren Tarkington, all of Pea Ridge; two sisters, Nita Abernathy of Virginia and Lucy Spruill of Edenton; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, James Stanley Tarkington, Clarence Warren Tarkington and Thomas Nixon Tarkington.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Evans Funerals and Cremations of Edenton.
