Mr. Walter E. Carson, 79, died Friday, February 9, 2007.
A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. James United Methodist Church. Inurnment will follow in the columbarium at the church.
Mr. Carson, a native of Pitt County, lived his early life in Washington and Bath. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Since 1950 he made his home in Greenville where he attended St. James United Methodist Church. He was employed as a tobacconist with Ficklen Tobacco Company, Carolina Leaf, Dimon and La Suardi in the Philippines.
A sportsman, he spent many hours freshwater fishing in eastern N. C.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Jackie Pollock Carson; daughters, Anna Carson Gaylor and husband, Danny, of Winterville and Margaret Carson Greer and husband, Bud, of Greenville; five grandchildren, Walt Gaylor, Matt Gaylor, Russ Gaylor, Sommer Greer Whitehurst and husband, David, and Brian Greer; and brother, Edward Carson of Bath.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to and then immediately following the service.
