Mrs. Carolyn Adams Grist, age 75, a resident of 160 Washington Harbour, died Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Beaufort County Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church in Washington, conducted by Rev. Daryl Evans and Sam Grist. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Alden P. Grimes, Sam G. Grimes, Samuel Latham Grimes. James Grist Leach, Junius D. Grimes and William R. Roberson IV.
Mrs. Grist was born in Rocky Mount on September 20, 1931. She was the daughter of the late E. Bryan Adams and Mildred Carawan Adams. Mrs. Grist was a realtor, worked for the Heart Association and operated antique shops. She was an avid bridge player. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Grist was married to Shepherd Russell “Shep” Grist, who preceded her in death, on November 25, 2006.
Survivors include three daughters, Vicky G. Barris and her husband, Robert, of Buxton, N.C., Lucy G. Walker and her husband, Larry, of Washington and Jami G. Burns and her husband, Gary, of Chapel Hill; one brother, Joy S. Adams of Rotonda West, FL; five grandchildren, Adam Grist Barris, Shelley Selby and her husband, Daniel, Mary Carolyn Walker, Catherine Shepherd Burns and Stephen Grist Burns; and one great-grandchild, Sidney Ray Selby.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the home, 160 Washington Harbour, Washington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Beaufort County, 1089 Bridge Street, Washington, N.C. 27889.
