Mr. Samuel “Pear Jr.” Peartree, Jr., 77, of 6831 Terra Ceia Road, Pantego, NC died at home on Wednesday, February 21, 2007.
A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, February 25, 2007 at Holy Trinity Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, Washington, NC with Bishop Melvin Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Broad Creek Cemetery, Pantego, NC.
Mr. Peartree was born December 20, 1929 in Beaufort County. He was the son of the late Teenie Spencer Peartree and Samuel Peartree, Sr. He attended the public schools of Beaufort County. For fifty plus years he was engaged in Farming and he would later retire from the North Carolina Department of Transportation. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, Washington, NC and served as a Trustee.
On June 14, 1958 he was married to Carlene Edwards Peartree, who survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters, Annette Peartree Mandley and husband, James Mandley, Chesapeake, VA and Diane Peartree Suggs, Greenville, NC; four sons, Lewis Hogans, Norfolk, VA, Ronnie Peartree-Edwards and wife Sharon Edwards, Durham, NC, Randy Linton, Brooklyn, NY and Kenneth Peartree, Tampa, FL; two sisters, Rena Whitley and Sophia Lewis, both of the Terra Ceia Community; one brother, Eddie “Talkie” Peartree and wife Bessie Peartree, Terra Ceia Community; 19 grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Bertha Peartree; five sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Peartree and Clifton Peartree.
The family will receive friends at the home, 6831 Terra Ceia Road, Pantego, NC.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 North Bonner Street, Washington, NC.
