Mr. David Murray Jr., 73, a resident of 26675 U.S. Highway 264 East, Engelhard, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at Pungo District Hospital, Belhaven.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at St. Lydia Missionary Baptist Church, Swan Quarter, with the Rev. Robert Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church’s cemetery.
Mr. Murray was born Jan. 31, 1934, in Hyde County. He was the son of the late Samuel Murray and Minnie Gibbs Murray. He attended Hyde County public schools. Mr. Murray retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation. He was a member of St. Lydia Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Jean Collins of Engelhard; a sister, Mamie Spruill of New York, N.Y.; two brothers, Armando Murray of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Emmit Murray of Swan Quarter; and several grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lee Cooper, and three brothers, Samuel Murray, William Murray and Horace Murray.
The family will receive friends at the home.
