Mr. Walter Spencer, 83, a resident of Columbia, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at his home.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Gerald Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in the church’s cemetery.
Mr. Spencer was born May 1, 1923, in Tyrrell County. He was a retired social worker. He was an Army veteran. He was married to Louise Spencer, who survives.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Galloway of Virginia; four sons, Robert Spencer of Ohio, Eugene Spencer and Milton Spencer, both of Raleigh, and Tyrone Spencer of Tacoma, Wash.; three sisters, Matilda Gilliam of Columbia, Carrie Prister of New York and Otelia Mann of Edenton; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Rowsom Funeral Home, Columbia.
