Mrs. Ella Mae Hill Lewis, 90, formerly of 301 East Haven Apartments, Washington, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at Britthaven Nursing Home of Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Paul Funeral Home, Washington. Burial will follow in Haw Branch Church of Christ Cementery in Chocowinity.
Mrs. Lewis’ grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Lewis was born in Beaufort County on Jan. 15, 1917. She was the daughter of the late George and Carolina Winfield Hill. She was married to Major Wright Lewis, who preceded her in death Nov. 5, 1967. She was a lifelong resident of Beaufort County. She was a caregiver to the elderly and a homemaker. She was a member of Haw Branch Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son, Major Churchill Lewis of Chocowinity; three daughters, Jennette Driver of Amelia, Va., Carolyn Lewis of Pinetown and Shelvie Morris of Gordonsville, Va.; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Henry Lewis and Hubby Lewis; one daughter, Shelby Ann Lewis; one grandson, James Thomas Lewis and one great-granddaughter, Jenny Renee Crum.
The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home, Washington, and other times at the home of her daughter, Carolyn Lewis, 126 Telephone Lane, Pinetown.
