Mrs. Betty Lou Congleton Harding, age 60, a resident of 681 Harding Lane, Chocowinity, N.C., died Saturday, March 3, 2007, at her home.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2007, at Haw Branch Church of Christ officiated by D.J. Maxey and Kent Gurganus. Burial will follow at the Harding-Hill Family Cemetery on Southside Farms. Shawn Harding, Ira Whealton, Herbert Congleton, Wayne Harding, Ray Barr and Jimmy Stokes will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Harding was born in Beaufort County on Sept. 10, 1946, daughter of the late Arthur Congleton Sr. and the late Blanche Boyd Congleton. She was a 1964 graduate of Washington High School and continued her education at Roanoke Bible College. She married Phillip Ryan Harding on March 21, 1969, who survives. Mrs. Harding was a bookkeeper having worked at the former Hamilton Beach and the Washington Daily News. She was a member of Haw Branch Church of Christ where she played the piano for twenty years.
Surviving along with her husband, Phil, of the home is a son: Jeffrey Harding and his wife, Kelly, of Chocowinity; and a brother: Arthur Congleton Jr. of Belhaven.
The Harding family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday March 5, 2007, at Haw Branch Church of Christ and at other times at the home.
