Mr. Elmer Lynn Oliver, 74, of Roper, died Thursday, March 8, 2007, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 1, 1932 in Washington County, he was the son of the late Ernest and Ida Jones Oliver and was preceded in death by his son, Wesley M. Oliver. Mr. Oliver was a retired mechanic and salesman for the former B &R Tractor Company, a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and member of Victory Christian Fellowship.
His family includes his wife of 52 years, Juanita Hassell Oliver of Roper, N.C.; daughter, Lynette O. Roebuck and husband Timmie of Plymouth, N.C.; sons, Christopher L. Oliver of Raleigh, N.C. and David R. Oliver and wife Betty of Roper, N.C.; sisters, Jean O. Rose of Roper, N.C. and Myrtle O. Hardison of Plymouth, N.C.; brothers, Pete Oliver and Bill Oliver of Roper, N.C.; grandchildren, Kristin Oliver and Jordan Oliver.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, March 11, 2007, at 3 p.m. in the Victory Christian Fellowship with Pastor Avis Hammond officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Saturday, March 10, 2007, from 6-8 p.m. at Victory Christian Fellowship and other times at the residence. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
