Mrs. Rachel Lee Bailey Parnell, 70, of Gatlin St., Williamston, died Friday, March 9, 2007, at Martin General Hospital, Williamston.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Rehoboth Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Revs. Rueben Batchelor and William Roberson officiating. Burial will follow in Bailey family cemetery.
Mrs. Parnell was born in Martin County on Aug. 6, 1936. She was the daughter of the late James Gustus Bailey and Mary Leary Bailey. On Aug. 20, 1955, she married Alvin V. Parnell Jr., who preceded her in death Feb. 18, 2006. She was retired from Central Soya where she had worked as a processor. She was a member of Rehoboth Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Bullock of Bear Grass; four sons, James Parnell, Dennis Parnell, Keith Parnell and Raymond Parnell, all of Bear Grass; three sisters, Velma Bailey and Gladys Martin, both of Bear Grass, and Hazel Manning of Williamston; one brother, Frank Bailey of Fayetteville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Grace Knox.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Biggs Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, James Parnell, 3064 Lee Road, Williamston.
