Seahawks’ softball, Tigers’ baseball win

CHOCOWINITY — The Southside Seahawks and Williamston Tigers earned a split in their softball and baseball games on Monday.
Southside’s softball team picked up a 3-2 in the Atlantic Conference game.
Williamston gained the advantage in the baseball game, taking a 10-0 victory.
Softball
Southside 3, Williamston 2
Gabby Cilluffo was solid for the Seahawks, going the distance and striking out seven batters in the 3-2 victory. She also walked two and allowed five hits.
Cilluffo helped her own cause by banging out a pair of hits. She drove in one and scored what proved to be the game-winner.
Williamston took a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI-double by Presley Roberson. Southside struck back in the bottom half.
The Seahawks took a 2-1 lead in the second. Roberson slapped another RBI-double in the third to tie the game.
Southside went up 3-2 in the bottom of the third. Cilluffo, who went 2-for-3, singled to start the rally. She went to second on a passed ball and then stole third. Cilluffo then raced home on a passed ball to score the game-winner.
Southside (4-1, 1-1 Atlantic Conference) returns to action today at Camden.
Williamston will play at Perquimans.

Baseball
Williamston 10, Southside 0
Tucker Warren improved to 2-1 by blanking Southside, while Williamston erupted for six runs in the second en route to the 10-0 win.
Trey Peaks and Bud Robertson hit consecutive doubles and Matt Howell followed with an RBI-single in the big inning. Robertson was a perfect 3-for-3 on the day.
Daniel Boyd suffered the loss for Southside. Jay Hill and Brad Boyd provided the lone hits for the Seahawks.
The Tigers (4-4, 2-1 Atlantic Conference) play at Perquimans today before hosting Northside on Friday.
Southside will play at Camden today.
