WASHINGTON: Evelyn Speight Johnson, 76, formerly of Snow Hill, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at her residence. A native of Greene County, she was born, July 5, 1930, the daughter of the late Walter G. Speight and Bettie Lee Bailey Speight. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and a member of the Snow Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Funeral Services will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service with the Reverend Ronnie Heath officiating. Committal Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 23, at the Snow Hill Cemetery.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her sons, Mike Johnson and Al Johnson; and brothers, Ray Speight and Walter Speight.
Her surviving family includes her husband, Alton H. Johnson, Sr. of the home; a daughter, Pam Clark and husband, Mike of Chocowinity; a sister, Hilda Joyner of Greenville; sisters-in-law, Catherine Speight of Newport and Marguerite Speight of Kinston; grandchildren, Jodie Clark and wife, Jackie, Derek Miles and wife, Mia, Jonathan Johnson and Shane Johnson; great-grandchildren, Cameron Johnson, Alexis Johnson and Julia Love Clark.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Thursday and other times at the home, 825 W. Second Street, Washington, N.C.
