Mrs. Doris Mae Woolard, age 84, a resident of the Old Ford community, Washington, NC died Monday, March 19, 2007 at the Beaufort County Hospital.
A graveside funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2007 at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Travis Boyd. Pallbearers will be Jim “Pete” Griffin, Robert A. Singleton, George R. “Bobby” Parker, Ken Woolard, Skyler Woolard, Art Hedges and Tom Boyd. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Morlock, Mike Blackman, Art Woolard, Ricky Woolard and Grover Boyd.
Mrs. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on October 22, 1922 daughter of the late Oscar Luther Woolard and the late Eva Cherry Woolard. She was a graduate of Old Ford School and Washington High School. She married Glenn Thomas Woolard on October 13, 1945 who preceded her in death on July 21, 1983. Mrs. Woolard was a homemaker who enjoyed fishing, yard work and gardening. She loved reading and cooking for shut in family and friends. Mrs. Woolard was a member of Sweet Home Christian Church.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law: Mrs. Jake “Lillie” Woolard and Geraldine Stewart, both of Washington; a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law: Dot &Lester Elks of Grimesland and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews. Mrs. Woolard was preceded in death by two sisters: Thelma W. Griffin, Marie W. Coltrain and four brothers: Jake Woolard, Bill Woolard, Carl Woolard and Elmer Ray Woolard.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2007 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington.
