Bernice C. Cahoon

Bernice C. Cahoon, 70, of 12380 North Lake Road, Engelhard, died Friday night, March 30, 2007, at her home.
Born in Hyde County, Sept. 16, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Kelly and Katie Pledger Cahoon. She was a graduate of Engelhard High School and following her graduation she studied and worked in Greenville. She was married to Joseph Benjamin Cahoon who preceded her in death in 2000. She worked for a number of years with The East Carolina Bank and was a member of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ.
Funeral Services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at the family plot in Fulford Cemetery. The Reverend James Lupton will officiate and Scott Sukeforth and Doug Gibbs will also participate in the service.
Surviving are two sons, Benjamin B. Cahoon and his wife, Melanie of Nags Head and Eric K. Cahoon and his wife, Tammy of Engelhard; five grandchildren, Melissa Cahoon, James Cahoon, Karissa Cahoon, Kellum Cahoon and Katie Cahoon; her very special friends, Dorothy Gibbs and Edna Sukeforth.
Mrs. Cahoon was preceded in death by a brother, Mack Cahoon and a sister, Lizzie C. Staples.
The family will receive friends at home.
