Mrs. Joyce Booth Gillins, 57, of 90 Elm St., Montclair, N.J., and formerly of Beaufort County, died Monday, April 2, 2007, at Beaufort County Hospital, Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Mt. Calvary Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Acre Station community, Plymouth, with Elder Earl Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Washington.
Mrs. Gillins was born in Beaufort County on April 26, 1949. She was the daughter of Beatrice Woolard Booth and the late Earmon Linwood Booth. She attended the Beaufort County Schools and graduated from Montclair High School, Montclair, N.J. She was employed with the Montclair Public Schools in Montclair, N.J. She was married to Henry C. Porter Sr., who survives. She had attended Mt. Calvary Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Acre Station, while in North Carolina.
Survivors include one daughter, Angela Gillins of Montclair, N.J.; three sons, Anthony Gillins of California, Hank Porter Jr. of Clearwater, Fla., and John Gillins of Montclair, N.J.; four sisters, Devora Francis and Anna Moore, both of Newark, N.J., Glencia Whitney of Acre Station, and Melinda Linton of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four brothers, Earmon Linwood Booth Sr. and Tommy Booth, both of Newark, N.J., Sammy Booth of Yeatesville, and John Myers Booth of Acre Station; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Diane Credle and one brother, Cleon Booth.
The family will receive friends at the home of her mother, 17344 N.C. Highway 32, Acre Station community, Plymouth.
