Mrs. Rebecca Vaughn Ellsworth Armstrong, 87, of New Oxford, Pa., died Friday, April 6, 2007, at The Brethren Home Community.
A memorial service was conducted April 14, 2007, in New Oxford, Pa., with the Rev. Merv Wunderlich and pastor Joel Nogle officiating.
Mrs. Armstrong was born in Washington on Feb. 13, 1920. She was the daughter of the late Carrie Simons Vaughan and William Leroy Vaughan. She was a graduate of Washington High School and Meredith College. She received her master’s degree from William &Mary. She taught high school mathematics until 1965 when she became the Henrico County math coordinator in Richmond, Va., until her retirement in 1982. On Feb. 3, 1946, she married William Taylor Ellsworth, who preceded her in death. She later married Louis E. Armstrong.
Survivors include her children, Lee Ellsworth of Gettysburg, Pa., Becky Vandagriff of Charlotte, and Carole Tallant of Wilmington; and three grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund of The Brethren Home.
