CROFT, Edna Marie Carrow Spry, 81, of Tampa, went to be with our Lord May 10, 2007.
Edna was originally from Little Washington and Chocowinity N.C., born October 16, 1925. Edna was preceded in death by parents, Artie and Audie Carrow; sisters, Estelle Carrow Clark and Annie Ruth Carrow.
Edna was fortunate to have a peaceful ending, at her home surrounded and cared for by her adoring children, Sandy Westrich, David Croft, Carla Croft and Sherry Croft Barrington.
Edna also leaves behind her beloved brother, Ersell; and sister-in-law, Pat Carrow, both of Chesapeake Va., their children and church family; her aunt, Myrtle Ruth Boyd, cousin Faye Edwards both of Chocowinity and Nephew Richard Clark Jr. of Wilson and several additional family members. Edna’s legacy lives on through her loving family including six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and special friends Betty Davenport and Ms.Rosa.
Edna’s life’s work and special gift was nursing, obtaining her registered nursing license in Fayetville, N.C. Edna provided support and medical care for many local residents during her tenure at Beaufort County Nursing Home as Director of Nurses. Edna was a team leader for the original opening of John Knox Village, Tampa, and instrumental in implementing new techniques at Florida Mental Health Center, University of South Florida Campus. Edna’s 81 years were filled with adventures that grew from working in tobacco, hospital emergency rooms and geriatric centers to cocktails at Tavern On The Green, spinning slots in Las Vegas and walking the beaches of Hawaii.
A memorial service for Edna will be 4 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2007, at Melech Hospice House Chapel, 11125 N. 52nd St., Temple Terrace, FL 33617, (813) 984-2200, followed by a celebration of Edna’s life at the home of Sherry Barrington, 10401 N. Blvd., Tampa, FL 33612.
