Mr. Russell Blount Knowles Sr., 87, of 1540 Woodard Road, Windsor, died Monday, May 21, 2007, at Bertie Memorial Hospital.
A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Edgewood Cemetery officiated by the Rev. David Woolsey.
Mr. Knowles was born in Bertie County on Sept. 10, 1919, to the late John Pelham and Caroline Smithwick Knowles. He was a member of Windsor United Methodist Church. Mr. Knowles was a former board member of the Bertie County commissioners, the Windsor Board of Education and the ASCS.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Williford Knowles of Windsor; two daughters, Linda K. Jorgensen and Patricia K. Schilbe, both of Richmond, Va.; one son, Russell Blount Knowles Jr. of Windsor and one granddaughter.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Walker Funeral Home, and at other times from their home.
