Mr. Richard Warner Dixon Sr., 70, of Aurora, died Saturday, June 9, 2007, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted today at 2 p.m. in Bryant Funeral Home, Alliance, with the Rev. Archie Rivenbark officiating. There will be no graveside service.
Mr. Dixon was the son of the late Edgar Dixon and Margaret Dixon Ireland. He was an Air Force veteran. He worked with the New Bern Fire Department for eight years and retired from PCS Phosphate after 21 years of service. He was married to Jennie Dixon, who survives.
Survivors include one son, Richard Dixon Jr. of Hickory; two daughters, Denise Mullins of Reelsboro, and Debbie Quidley of Delaware; three stepdaughters, Stacy Long of Plymouth, Angel Crisp of Washington, and Lisa Escobedo of Nashville, N.C.; one grandson, Eric W. Dixon of Reelsboro, who he reared; one sister, Julia Voliva of Vandemere; 25 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Karen Webster and his stepfather, Ammie J. Ireland.
