The Rev. Willie James “Boot” Sherman, 82, of 1271 Crawford Trailer Park, Chocowinity, died Thursday, June 7, 2007, at Beaufort County Hospital, Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Mills Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, Grimesland, with the Rev. Frank Swinson officiating. Burial will follow in Corey Cemetery, Winterville.
Mr. Sherman was born in Beaufort County on April 3, 1925. He was the son of the late Roland and Sarah Green Sherman. He attended the Beaufort County Schools. He was an Army veteran. He was an associate minister of Mills Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Lizzie W. Wiggins of New Jersey; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of Lena A. Johnson, 4809 School Road, Grimesland.
A walk-in viewing will be held today from 1-8:30 p.m. in Whitfield &Whitley Funeral Home, Washington.
