Once his NBA career is done, Damien Wilkins just may have the makings of a future coach.
The Washington native and NBA star with the Seattle SuperSonics held his first basketball camp at Washington High School on Tuesday. The camp will run through Friday.
A pair of 15-year-olds were all smiles following the first day of camp.
Donshe Gray said it was exciting to have an NBA star leading the campers in drills.
The campers, who will receive t-shirts in a different color on Thursday, will return to the hardwood today for more drills and games.
Wilkins was encouraged by the campers on Tuesday.
Wilkins is hoping to cap the camp, which is sponsored by Adidas, with an all-star game on Friday.
Wilkins will host his third annual “Fun Day” on Saturday in the field across from the Boys &Girls Club.
There will be food, beverages, prizes and games for the adults.
The event will begin at 1:30 p.m. and last until 5:30 p.m.
