Mrs. Estelle C. Etheridge, age 82, a resident of Arbor Drive, Washington, NC died Saturday, June 16, 2007 at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home in Washington, NC.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 23, 2007 in Brown Chapel at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church officiated by the Reverend Kevin Johnson and the Reverend A. Donald Wiesner.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Rena B. Harding room at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
Mrs. Etheridge was born in Hertford County, NC on October 4, 1924, daughter of the late Ernest Curle and the late Eva Parker Curle. She married George A. Etheridge, Jr. on June 16, 1946, who preceded her in death in November 1982. Mrs. Etheridge was a homemaker. She was a member and Sunday School teacher at Trinity Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, VA. She was an active member of civic organizations that fostered the welfare of children for forty years. She was more recently a member of Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church in Washington, NC.
Mrs. Etheridge is survived by her children; son, George Ernest Etheridge of Bethel, NC and grandson, Johnathan Sinclaire Etheridge of Chesapeake, VA; daughter, Anna Etheridge Sizemore and granddaughters, Susan Gayle Sizemore and Catherine Parker Sizemore, all of Washington, NC; daughter, Frances Etheridge Nance and husband, Clifton Nance of Newport News, VA and grandson, Paul Alan Richardson of Winston-Salem, NC; daughter, Sarah Christine Cargill and husband, Christopher R. Cargill and grandson, Kristopher Robin Cargill of Sharpsburh, MD; a brother, “Bo” Curle and wife, Sylvia Curle of Whaleyville, VA; and a sister, Gayle Futrell and husband, Sidney Futrell of Plano, TX.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Raye C. Umphlett and Frances C. Alexander and three brothers, Woodrow Curle, “JP” Curle and Franklin Curle.
