Mr. Sam Byron Woolard, age 89, a resident of 976 Thoroughfare Road, Washington, NC died Friday 22, 2007 at his home.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday June 26, 2007 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington officiated by Larry Harding. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Lee Moore, Dale Rutledge, Johnny Hawkins, Jody Griffin, Jimmy Hardison and Dale Crouch will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on January 30, 1918 son of the late Sam Fowle Woolard and the late Mattie Jackson Woolard. He married the former Carolyn Hester Jones on March 2, 1963 who preceded him in death on December 24, 2001. Mr. Woolard was a retired self-employed farmer.
Mr. Woolard is survived by a son: Kent Woolard of Washington. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Curtis Braxton Woolard and Noah Thomas “Hudge” Woolard and three sisters: Joyce Cotton Baird, Gwendolyn W. Woolard and Jessie Dell Woolard.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday June 25, 2007 at Paul Funeral Home.
