On June 22, 2007, Mr. Rudolph C. Walch, Jr., formerly of Smallwood, died at Rex Hospital in Raleigh following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Jo Walch (nee Woods) and the devoted father of John W. Walch and his wife Kathy of Raleigh. He was the dear brother of George E. Walch of Frederick, Maryland. He is survived by his beloved grandson, Thomas John (T.J.) Walch of Raleigh. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., June 27, 2007 at the Sterling Ashton Schwab Witzke Funeral Home of Catonsville, Maryland with Fr. Timothy Fell presiding. Interment was at the family plot in the New Cathedral Cemetery in Baltimore, Maryland.
Mr. Walch was born in Frederick, Maryland on February 5, 1933. His parents were the late Rudolph C. and Althea V. Walch (nee Cordell). Mr. Walch and his wife lived in Catonsville, Maryland until 1995, when they retired to Washington, North Carolina.
He was a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University of Baltimore, Maryland where he earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in electrical engineering. He was an electrical engineer for Bendix Radio Corporation in Towson, Maryland for over 30 years.
