Mr. Pete Godard, 80, of 1540 Godard Town Road, Washington, died Saturday, June 30, 2007 at Martin General Hospital, Williamston.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Smithwick Chapel Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Williamston, with Vice-Bishop William Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Godard family cemetery, Washington.
Mr. Godard was born in Martin County on Aug. 5, 1926. He was the son of the late Janie Mayo Locke and Sylvester Godard. He attended the Martin County Schools. He was a retired farmer. On Jan. 17, 1948, he married Gladys Odell Godard, who preceded him in death Aug. 23, 1999. He was a lifelong member of Smithwick Chapel Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Williamston.
Survivors include three daughters, Janie Godard Jones and Eunice Godard Clemmons, both of Washington, and Selma Godard Jones of Williamston; four sons, Sylvester Godard, Wyndell Godard and Travis Godard, all of Washington, and Antonio Godard of Charlotte; five sisters, Arbell Scott of Baltimore, Md., Vester Godard, Ader Peele and Thelma Rawls, all of Washington, and Annie Land of Williamston; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Carl Godard and one brother, S.L. Godard.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8 p.m. at Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington, and other times at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Elder and Mrs. Ricky Clemmons, 1924 Godard Town Road, Washington.
