Mr. James Hoover Patrick, 78, of 1007 Pamlico St., Washington, died Saturday, June 30, 2007, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Loving Union Free Will Baptist Church with Bishop A.H. Hartsfield officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
Mr. Patrick was born in Beaufort County on July 31, 1928. He was the son of the late Beulah Norvella Northern Patrick and James Patrick. He attended Beaufort County public schools. He worked as a security guard at the former Moss Planing Mill in Washington. On April 22, 1976, he married Mary Louise Hawkins Patrick, who survives. He was a member of Loving Union Free Will Baptist Church and served as a deacon.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty P. Northern of Greenville; two sons, Jimmy Hawkins of Chocowinity and Danny R. Hawkins of Greenville; one brother, Booker T. Patrick of Washington; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and six great great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Gladys Nixon and Ailen Rogers; one sister, Beulah Taylor; and one brother, Victor Patrick.
The family will receive friends at the home.
