Mrs. Delzora Elizabeth Boomer Winfield, 72, of 414 Belhaven Square, Belhaven, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at Pungo District Hospital, Belhaven.
A funeral will be conducted Sunday at 5:30 p.m. in Antioch Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Pantego, with Elder Mack Freshwater officiating. Burial will follow in Broad Creek Cemetery located at the church.
Mrs. Winfield was born in Beaufort County on Sept. 9, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Annie Mann Boomer and John Leamon Boomer. She was a graduate in the Class of 1954 at Beaufort County High School, Pantego. She was married to William Earl Winfield, who preceded her in death. She retired from a career as a nurse specializing in geriatrics. She was an ordained minister and was an associate pastor at Antioch Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Pantego.
Survivors include one daughter, Denise W. Long of Raleigh; one son, Anthony E. Winfield of Baltimore, Md.; one brother, Harold Boomer Sr. of Pantego; five sisters, Pecola Collins and Petronia Shelby, both of Pantego, Julia Boomer of Brooklyn, N.Y., Ercle Boomer of Raleigh, and Louisiana Armstead of Plymouth; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Denne W. Roger.
The family will receive friends at the home of her niece, Barbara Turner, 170 Elm St., Pantego.
Viewing of Mrs. Winfield will only take place during the funeral service.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
