Mr. Elliott Hollowell Bright, age 90, of 1154 Shirley Farm Road, Pinetown, died Saturday, July 28, 2007, at his home.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Belhaven Missionary Baptist Church and will be conducted by Dr. Harold Greene. Burial will follow in Yeatesville cemetery. Travis Bright, Jody Bell, Doug Dixon, Phil Vernelson, Greg Cox and Jeff Herr will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Read Allen III, Dale Tolan, Delma Tolan and Lee Bond.
Mr. Bright was born in Pasquotank County on Sept. 17, 1916, to the late Elijah and Maggie Williams Bright. On Jan. 2, 1940, in Suffolk, Va., he married Grace Mae Taylor, who survives. He was a retired farmer, furniture maker, loved to work in his garden and was an active member of the Belhaven Missionary Baptist Church until his illness.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Grace, include three sons, Doug Bright and wife Jenny of Belhaven, Clark Bright and wife Beth of Greenville and Scott Bright and wife Nancy of Roxboro; six grandchildren, Melody Bright Bell and husband Jody of Belhaven, Jill Bright Vernelson and husband Phil of New Bern, LeAnn Bright Dixon and husband Doug of Belhaven, Denise Bright Cox and husband Gregory of Charlotte, Morgan Bright Herr and husband Jeffrey of Richmond, Va., Travis Andrew Bright of Charlotte; five great-grandchildren, Megan Bell, Hunter Bell, Douglas S. Dixon, Ashlyn Cox and Mason Herr.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, two brothers and one great-grandchild, Annebelle Dixon.
The family will receive friends at the home, 1154 Shirley Farm Road, Pinetown.
