WILLIAMSTON — Northeastern’s quarterback was seeing double Friday night in a 6-2 loss to Williamston.
Twin brother’s DeBrian’t and DeBrian Everett, both linebackers, were instrumental in Williamston’s ability to shut down Northeastern’s passing attack.
Williamston recorded eight sacks and only allowed 36 passing yards in the Tigers’ first victory of the season.
DeBrian’t caused two fumbles in the game, one of which sealed the victory for Williamston in the fourth quarter.
Williamston disrupted Northeastern’s offense from the start, recording three sacks in the first three plays of the game
McGill depends on the Everett twins to make big plays, and provide leadership also.
De’Brian’t and DeBrian were both complementary of their coaching staff after the emotional victory, praising defensive coordinator Damon Hayes for implementing an effective game play during practice this past week.
Senior wide reciever Eric Smith provided the game’s only offensive touchdown, in more ways than one.
Smith hauled in a 40-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jarret Coffield in the second quarter after Williamston had ran numerous screen passes and short passes to set up the deep slant pattern by Smith.
According to McGill, Smith was the one who noticed that the play would work.
