Mrs. Elna Margaret Craddock Hassell, 88, of Roper, went home to be with the Lord on August 23, 2007.
Born April 21, 1919 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Jessie Baynor Craddock and was preceded in death by her brothers, Edison R. Craddock and James V. Craddock. Mrs. Hassell was a homemaker and faithful member of Roper Pentecostal Holiness Church for 68 years.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 68 years, Arthur Ervin Hassell of Roper, N.C.; daughter, Betty H. Dowd and husband Jerry of Winston-Salem, N.C.; sons, James E. Hassell and wife Kathryn of Roper, N.C. and Charles R. Hassell and wife Kathleen of Mackeys, N.C.; grandchildren, J. Michael Hassell, Susan and Robert Allen, J. Scott and Jennifer Dowd, Jeremy M. and Holly Dowd; great grandchild, Jordan Margaret Allen; stepgrandchildren, Chester and Sharon Cooper, Cynda and Tony Kroll; stepgreatgrandchildren, Kathryn A. Kroll, Brianna Cooper, Chester Cooper, James Cooper, Christopher Allen and Megan Allen; nieces, Terry Craddock and Jill Craddock; nephews, Tim Craddock and Ted Craddock; her dearest friend through life, Mrs. Olive Hassell and husband Roy of Plymouth.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, August 26, 2007, at 2 p.m. in the Roper Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Alan Pearson officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Saturday, August 25, 2007, from 6-8 p.m. at Roper Pentecostal Holiness Church and other times at the residence. The family wishes to thank the staff of Plumblee Nursing Center in Plymouth for the loving care and compassion given to our mother and wife during her stay there. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
