Mr. Robert Edwin “Bobby” Perry Sr., 72, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2007. The funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church with Rev. David Anderson, Dr. James O. Hagwood and Rev. Jim Drake officiating; burial will follow at Tice Cemetery.
Bobby was retired from Weyerhaeuser where he worked as a technical supervisor. He was a member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church serving as a deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. He retired from the Griffins Township Fire Department where he had served as a fireman and grief counselor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Perry and Elsie Long Perry Griffin, and a sister, Dot Wynne. On December 5, 1954, he married Peggy Mobley Perry, who survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are daughters, Vikki Hardison and husband Leslie and daughter Abby, and Kristi Gatt and husband John of Morehead City; son, Robert Perry Jr. of New York City, and a brother, Kenneth Perry of Williamston.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church and other times at the residence, 5809 Fire Dept. Rd., Williamston. Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to “Message of Easter,” Griffins Township Fire Dept. or a charity of choice.
