Mr. Leonard T. Pugh Jr., 76, of Newport, died Friday, August 24, 2007 at Carteret County Hospital in Morehead City.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 29, at 11 a.m. at Pugh Cemetery in Gull Rock with the Rev. Jerald Craddock officiating. Masonic Rites will be offered by Atlantic Lodge.
Mr. Pugh was born in Gull Rock on June 3, 1931. He was the son of the late Leonard T. and Clarabell Mason Pugh. He was married to Dona Williams who preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Engelhard High School and later enlisted in the Navy where he served until retirement as a master chief. He worked with Interstate Electronics for more than 20 years. He attended Watson’s Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a member of Newport Moose Lodge, Atlantic Lodge No. 294, AF and AM in Hyde County and was a member of the Navy Fleet Reserve.
Survivors include four daughters, Joanne Strong and Debbie Pugh, both of Newport, Cindy Andrews of Lugoff, S.C., and Mandy Pugh of Engelhard; one sister, Elsie Pugh Shelby of Engelhard, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Aug. 28 from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Service of Swan Quarter.
