Mr. Macon Monroe Holliday, 83, of Jamesville, died Sunday, September 2, 2007 at Washington County Hospital in Plymouth.
Born February 2, 1924 in Martin County, he was the son of the late Preston Monroe and Janie Brown Holliday. He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Beasley, and brother, Mountwell Holliday.
Mr. Holliday was a retired safety plant services manager with Weyerhaeuser Corporation and a member and deacon of Jamesville Christian Church. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and was recepient of the Purple Heart. He was past chairman of Martin County Board of Education, member of the board of directors of Martin Community College, past board member of the N.C. Department of Labor and received the Martin County Humanitarian Award in 2001.
His family includes his wife, Patricia Ange Holliday of Jamesville, N.C.; sons, Nicky Holliday of Williamston, N.C., Rock Holliday and wife Maria of Jamesville, N.C., Ronnie Holliday of Hunstville, Ala., Kenneth Holliday and wife Freda, Kevin Holliday and wife Sharon, Toby Holliday and wife Cheryl, all of Jamesville, N.C. and Rusty Holliday of Pinetown, N.C.; stepson, John Gray and wife Donna of Plymouth, N.C.; stepdaughter Jacqueline Baynor and husband Earl of Plymouth, N.C.; sister, Brownie Yeager and husband Fred of Brighton, Michigan; sixteen grandchildren and five great-grandchilden.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the Jamesville Christian Church with Rev. Doug Stokes and Rev. Jimmy Hagwood officiating. Burial will follow in Jameville Cemetery.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Jamesville Christian Church and other times at the residence.
