YEATESVILLE — Progress is what Northside’s Tami Wagaman wanted to see, and progress is what she got Thursday in a volleyball match against Manteo High School.
The final score was 3-0 Manteo (3-4), but what the score doesn’t show is how the Panthers (2-4) have improved since the start of the season, she said.
The Panthers started the season with a win over Washington, and notched a victory over Plymouth. But the team has lost to Pamlico, Perquimans, Camden and Manteo.
Manteo took the first game 25-19 despite a Panther surge at the end. In the second game, the Redskins built a 20-15 lead, but a diving save by Lauren Fletcher and a kill by Casey Alligood held the Panthers pull to a final tally of 25-18.
In the third game, the Redskins jumped out to a 10-5 edge and never trailed. They won the game 25-16.
Lauren Rodriguez lead the team with seven assists. Tiffany Jackson had five kills and Lauren Fletcher had four.
The next match is set for Tuesday at Williamston.
