Mr. George Beamon Ballance Jr., 68, a resident of 305 Corriher Farm Road, Salisbury, died at The Brian Center, Salisbury, on Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, after a lengthy illness.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Pugh Cemetery in the Gull Rock community of Hyde County, with Steve Bryan officiating.
Mr. Ballance was born in Pinewald, N.J., on Aug. 22, 1939. He was the son of the late Beamon Ballance and Marie Ballance. He worked as a mechanic. He was a member of the pit crew for A.J. Foyt’s racing team. He was a member of several NASCAR pit crews. He was a Navy veteran, serving seven years. He earned the rank of CMA3 (construction mechanic-automotive, third class).
Survivors include a daughter, Vicki Ballance Bradley of Austria; a son, Jesse Bailey Ballance of Salisbury; and a half brother, William McMullan of Tuckerton, N.J.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey Ballance.
The family will receive friends at the home of Vernon and Betty Ballance, 796 Goshen Road, Engelhard.
