Mr. Daryl Ross Allen, 49, a resident of 34475 U.S. Highway 264 East, Belhaven, died Saturday September 15, 2007, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at the Belhaven Missionary Baptist Church officiated by Stanly Allen. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery in the Pungo Community of Pantego. Roddy Selby, Mike Respess, Felton “Rocky” Allen, Jr., Robby Cuthrell, Ricky Radcliffe and Robbie Slade will serve as pallbearers.
Daryl was born in Beaufort County on March 31, 1958, son of the late Larry Dorn Allen Sr., and the late Leora Annette Crocker Allen. He was a 1976 graduate of Pungo Christian Academy. Daryl married the former Wanda Sue Morris on September 11, 1977, who survives. He was a self-employed truck driver who later worked in the trucking field as a dispatcher with the Bowen Company of Belhaven. Daryl was a member of the Pantego Ruritan Club and a member of Belhaven Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a past Deacon.
Surviving along with Daryl’s wife, Wanda of the home are two daughters, Carol Beth Allen of Raleigh and Crystal Allen Davis and her husband Clint of Belhaven; three brothers, Larry Dorn Allen Jr. of Rising Fawn, Ga., Gary Keith Allen of Scranton and Jeryl Craig Allen of Pantego; a sister, Janalea Allen Adams of Blounts Creek and a special friend and “Kidney Brother” Robbie Slade of Pantego.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2007, at the Belhaven Missionary Baptist Church and at other times at the home.
