Mr. Roger Boyd Williams, age 69, a resident of 533 Duck Creek Road, Bath died Tuesday evening, September 18, 2007 at Beaufort County Hospital.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday September 22, 2007 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home officiated by Arnold Pressy. Earl Tetterton, Doug Kern, Billy Jo Arnold, L.F. Worthington, Ron Pilgreen and James Pollard will serve as pallbearers. Members of the Washington Lodge 675 and Bunyan Fire Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Williams was born in Loveland, Colorado on May 29, 1938, son of the late Robert Boyd Williams and Pearl Cowan Williams. He was a 1957 graduate of Kensington High School in Kansas and 1958 graduate of Denver Electronics VoTech. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1958-1962 on the USS Independence. Mr. Williams was owner/operator of Williams Scales, Inc. for 35 years.
In 1959, he married the former Janice Fordham. Later, on May 21, 1992 he married Mildred Jones Daniel. He was a lifetime member and one of the original founders of the Washington Optimist Club, a member of the Beaufort County Shrine Club and the Bunyan Fire Department and a member of Washington Lodge 675 where he was Past Master.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Daniel Williams, of the home, and his children: Victor Lynn Williams and wife, Mary Susan of Washington, Alana Kim Respess of Kansas and Wesley Ryan Williams and wife, Nicole of Washington; his stepchildren: Dr. Plummer Alston Daniel, Jr. and wife, Connie of Goldsboro, Winifred Daniel Hassell and husband, Gene of Greenville, Sandra Daniel Hartmen and husband, Joseph of Gig Harbor, Washington State and Pamela Daniel Griffin and husband, Steve of Washington. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Morgan and Parker Williams, Jessica, Amanda, Sunshine and Noah Respess and Allison Williams; step grandchildren: William, Jessica and Emily Daniel, Ashley and Christian Hassell and Steven Archie Griffin; his sister: Jean Overmiller and husband, Bill of Lebanon, Kan.; his brother: Kent Williams and wife, Ruth of Peabody, Kan. and his sister-in-law: Faye Williams of Hockley, Texas. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Bob Williams and his granddaughter, Angela Williams.
The family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday at Paul Funeral Home in Washington and other times at the home of his son: Victor Lynn Williams located at 3996 U.S. Hwy. 17 North, Washington.
