Mrs. Virginia Avery Dixon Tyre

VANCEBORO — Mrs. Virginia Avery Dixon Tyre, 89, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2007.
The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel in Vanceboro. Burial will follow in Epworth United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Tyre, of Vanceboro, owned and operated Virginia’s Beauty Shoppe for many years. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ladies Auxiliary, Post # 11119, Vanceboro United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women’s Group.
Mrs. Tyre was preceded in death by husbands, Charlie House Dixon in 1972, and William Howard Tyre in 1999, brothers, Rizdon Averitt, Lonnie Averitt, and Alonza Averitt, sister, Easter Averitt Newton, stepson, David L. Tyre, step-great-grandson, Jacob William King, and nephew, Jimmy Wiley.
She is survived by: Daughter, Camille Dixon McEachren of Raleigh; Grandchildren, Katie Tyre King, David Clay Tyre, and Lee Jordan Tyre; Great-grandchild, Clay Michael King; Daughters-in-law, Barbara High Tyre of Red Oak, NC and Sandra Vernon Tyre of Lillington, NC; Nieces, Louise Wells of Louisburg, TN, and Ethel Gray Dunn of New Bern; and Nephew, Eddie Newton of New Bern.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Vanceboro.
