The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Monday, October 1, at Paul Funeral Home, Washington, N.C.
Mr. Little was born in Pitt County, North Carolina, on June 28, 1916. He was the son of the late Thomas Luther Little and Rosa Bell Johnston Little. He married Mildred M. Mizelle on August 24, 1941. They celebrated 65 years of marriage before her death in March of this year.
He and his wife moved to Newport News, Virginia in the early 1940s, where he worked as a crane operator in the shipyard until his retirement in the 1980s. Mr. Little enjoyed people and could always make you smile.
Church was a vital part of his life and he was a willing servant. He loved entertaining missionaries and pastors. Traveling the U.S. was a sightseeing adventure and he loved to visit family and attend Free Will Baptist National Conventions. His yard was filled with flowers and a fresh bouquet always made its way to the vase on the kitchen table. His vegetable garden fed family, neighbors and rabbits.
Survivors include two daughters, Bernadene Little Kemble of Tallahassee, Fla., and Phyllis Little Bass of Virginia Beach, Va.; one sister, Mary L. Goins of Burlington, N.C.; and one brother, Ruel McCoye Little of Rocky Mount, N.C.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Little was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to the Free Will Baptist International Missions, P.O. Box 5002, Antioch, TN 37011, or Unity Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, 2725 E. 14th Street, Greenville, NC 27858.
