WILLIAMSTON — Evelyn Mobley Howell, 88, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at Mayview Convalescent Center in Raleigh.
A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Baptist Church, Williamston. Burial will follow in Martin Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Howell was born in Martin County on May 26, 1919. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Henry and Beulah Peele Mobley. In 1939, she married William Lewis Howell, who preceded her in death in 1996. The couple owned and operated Howell’s Tax and Accounting Service and, in later years, worked together at Pittard, Perry and Crone Inc. in Williamston.
Survivors include two daughters, Billie Howell Whitehurst of Williamston and Jane Howell Sharpe of Raleigh; seven grandchildren; and one brother, Haywood C. Mobley of Rocky Mount.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Hildreth Peele Mobley, Ralph Clayton Mobley and William Worth Mobley.
The family will receive friends today from 3-5 p.m. at Biggs Funeral Home, Williamston, and other times at the home of her daughter, Billie Whitehurst, 1072 Cedar Hill Drive, Williamston.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Eastern NC Alzheimer’s Association, 400 Oberlin Road, Suite 220, Raleigh, NC 27605 or Memorial Baptist Church, 109 W. Church St., Williamston, NC 27892, or a charity of one’s choice.
