Mrs. Clara Ward Chauncey

PACTOLUS — Mrs. Clara Ward Chauncey, 89, died Sunday, October 21, 2007 at home.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Chauncey, daughter of the late Adolphus B. and Lynda Leggett Ward, was a native and lifelong resident of the Pactolus Community in Pitt County. She was married to Harold H. Chauncey who died in February, 1969. She was engaged in farming for a number of years and was a member of Tranters Creek Church of Christ.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Harold B. Chauncey in May 1999; two brothers, A. B. Ward Jr. and Allen Ward; and a sister, Grace W. Weatherington.
Surviving, daughters, Alva C. Stancil and husband, Donell, of Kenly, Annette Chauncey of Pactolus and Donna Bell Linton and husband, Mickey, of Chocowinity; brother, Edwin Ward and wife, Linda, of Rocky Mount; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at other times at the home of her daughter, Annette Chauncey.
